Enjoying The Challenge

So, no sooner than i say i'm going to find a job... the work starts rolling in!  I think it is due to the mass hysteria the holidays and Chinese New Year bring.  So i am busy, which is really an answer to prayers.  I am also working in-house a few days a week for a great client with really lovely people.   Yay for friendly faces and free coffee.

Just to add some interest to the mix i have been doing some super fun projects.  As a textile designer my bread and butter has been florals which i totally dig.  Nonetheless i can do florals in my sleep and i love a good challenge.  I have always believed if there is a theme/motif i can make a pattern for it or using it. Be it a book, plant, beast or product.  It makes me so happy to produce prints that have concept and story.  I am not a fantastic storyteller with words, but give me a pencil and i'll be able to create a narrative.  I think it has really helped me develop as a designer, and not just merrily follow the obvious trends. I am challenging you to create a pattern which has content and tells a story from your life.  Maybe that is a beautiful cabbage rose or maybe it is based on your favorite book.  Look out folks for my 10 commandments print hee hee.  Here are some images that may spark a new way of thinking about pattern.  Say no to knockoffs and be YOU.  Tell YOUR story.
