When Starbucks launched their new Kati Kati blend on June 25th, I was so excited to write about it. I am an absolute hawk when it comes to prints so when i clapped eyes on the Starbucks 'Kati Kati' blend packaging, my heart made a little leap! Yeah for fashion forward packaging! Here is some back story to the Kati Kati blend.
The word Kati Kati comes from Swahili, which means “between.” This East African coffee is a blend between 'Citrus and Spicy'. The natural citrus flavour notes make it ideal for a yummy and refreshing iced coffee during the summer months.
As for the packaging it is really quite lovely. I am happy the packaging tells a story. I believe this is how the customer can connect with the product. I love the fact the print has a nod to animal print and tropical palm leaves. I am so delighted the print is not cold vector art and has more of an artistic hand painted indigo effect. The pattern is almost Luli Sanchez and Francesco Scognamiglio Resort '13 in style. Very pretty and would be welcome in my kitchen any day. It is truly between fashion (Kati Kati) and graphic design.
Congrats to Starbucks for embracing the patterns that are occurring at the moment and being very fashion forward. Keep it up!
