House of Hackney

I started my working life in Shorditch and Hackney about 12 years ago.  It was just starting to become the trend center for London, however you could quite possibly be greeted by a huge pile of rotting chicken carcasses on your way into the studio (true story) . The hoxton quiff hadn't even arrived at this point. Now Luxury brands are moving in thick and fast and the area is very different. However House of Hackney truly has it's origins in the area.  They have just opened there newly renovated flagship store on Shoreditch House High Street. So sad to have missed it's opening but thanks to Susanna Lau we can still be a part of the action. Thanks Susie!

House of Hackney takes the concept of British home wares and turns it on its head subverting traditional products with playful and irreverent prints and imagery to appeal to a new generation.

After a decade of bland minimalism and disposable furnishings House of Hackney is on a quest to take the beige out of interiors. Described as ‘Colefax and Fowler on acid’ the wallpaper, bed linen and furniture label is characterized by prints and products that are steeped in tradition but are bold and non -conformist. Hallelujah moment! Down with bland.
